Tickets on sale for the 6/11 showing via the Esquire Theater here: https://www.esquiretheatre.com/movies/313811-american-hospitals-healing-a-broken-system \nAbout American Hospitals: \nToday hospital care is too often about money and power than serving the health needs of patients and the community.  “American Hospitals” examines the pernicious incentives driving health care’s astronomical pricing\, its monopolistic practices and the pervasive inequities in access and treatment. The film identifies innovative solutions that deserve national attention to restore hospitals to their historic focus on community health at affordable cost. \nAbout the Single Payer Action Network (SPAN): \nThe Single-Payer Action Network Ohio (SPAN Ohio) is a statewide coalition of organizations and individuals in Ohio seeking fundamental health care reform in our state and country so that every resident is guaranteed full and comprehensive coverage. This includes the full range of medical services\, hospitalization\, prescriptions\, vision care\, dental care\, mental health care\, home care\, long-term care\, and care for all injuries and illnesses. \nWe advocate the establishment of a public fund that would pay all health care bills without co-payments or deductibles. Funding would come from the savings realized by eliminating the administrative waste and profits of the 1\,500 private insurance companies and HMOs\, savings from greater utilization of preventive medicine\, and from additional mechanisms deemed necessary to ensure that the public fund has the necessary financial resources\, with adequate reserves. The plan we call for is known as a single-payer health care system. \nAbout PNHP: \nPhysicians for a National Health Program is a single issue organization advocating a universal\, comprehensive single-payer national health program. PNHP has more than 20\,000 members and chapters across the United States. \nSince 1988\, we’ve advocated for reform in the U.S. health care system. We educate physicians and other health professionals about the benefits of a single-payer system–including fewer administrative costs and affording health insurance for the 30 million Americans who have none. \nOur members and physician activists work toward a single-payer national health program in their communities. PNHP performs ground breaking research on the health crisis and the need for fundamental reform\, coordinates speakers and forums\, participates in town hall meetings and debates\, contributes scholarly articles to peer-reviewed medical journals\, and appears regularly on national television and news programs advocating for a single-payer system.
